Comedian David McSavage at the launched ‘Phizzfest’ 2013 festival at the 5th Lock on the Royal Canal at Cross Guns Bridge, Phibsborough
Phizzfest is the voluntarily run arts festival celebrating everything that is good about Phibsborough, Dublin 7.
Phizzfest is taking place over the May Bank Holiday weekend from Friday 3rd – Monday 6th. This year’s festival highlights include a performance of ‘Baglady’ by dramatist Frank McGuinness, a show by pop perfectionists Pugwash, a comic turn by David McSavage, a public conversation between poets Demot Bolger and Paul Durcan, and novelists Ed O’Loughlin and Kevin McCarthy dissecting issues of “state terror, national independence and exploding donkeys”.
There are plenty of other events scheduled (to book see phizzfest.ie), and the title sponsor this year is Waterways Ireland, with co-funding from Dublin City Council and the Arts Council.
So why the calendar move? We believe a shorter and more focused festival, early in the summer, is the best way to sustain and develop what our volunteers have built over the last four years. See you there.
