Picture shows model Lynn Kelly with a giant snail at Failte Ireland as Clonakilty in West Cork is named as the first ‘Cittaslow’ destination in Ireland. The popular Irish town achieved this international award joining 142 towns in 24 countries worldwide whose goal is to encourage production and use of quality fresh food in shops, restaurants and markets and to enhance quality of life for residents and visitors alike reviving traditional values. Cittaslow (pronounced ‘Cheetah-Slow), literally ‘slow city’, is an organisation founded in Italy in 1999 and inspired by the International Slow Food movement. Failte Ireland welcomed the first for an Irish town.
