READING ISN’T ALIEN…..
Ireland’s own Harry Potter star Evanna Lynch (aka Luna Lovegood) launched the 24th annual MS READaTHON. With the help of some enthusiastic little ‘aliens’, Evanna urged teachers and students across the country to ‘go rockets for reading’ and sign up for this year’s campaign. Schools will be contacted from the beginning of September with information brochures and entry forms. The reading period will take place for one month from October 14th to November 14th 2011.
The biggest school-based reading initiative in Ireland, the MS READaTHON is the key annual fundraising campaign of Multiple Sclerosis Ireland, the services, information and research society supporting people affected by MS. Last year more than 20,500 children in over 630 schools participated, reading an incredible 500,000 books between them and raising almost €1 million for people with MS.
